Contribute

Every card on this site is generated from plain text files inour GitHub repository. The most valuable contribution is translation review by native speakers - it takes five minutes and no coding.

Verify a translation (no coding required)

  1. Find the file

Open data/allergens/ on GitHub and pick an allergen, e.g. milk.yaml. Each language has its own section.

  2. Review the wording

Click the pencil icon to edit in your browser. Fix anything that doesn't read naturally - this text is shown to restaurant staff, so clarity beats literal translation.

  3. Mark it verified

If the translation is accurate, change verified: false toverified: true and open a pull request mentioning that you're a native or fluent speaker.

Add a language or allergen

New languages go in data/languages.yaml; new allergens are a single new YAML file copied from an existing one. Full instructions are in CONTRIBUTING.md. Every pull request is automatically checked against the data schema, so you can't break the site.

Why your help matters

A mistranslated allergy card is a safety risk. Machine translation gets us a first draft; only a native speaker can confirm it says exactly the right thing in a real restaurant. Cards with unverified translations show a warning until someone like you signs off.
